Manuwa: ‘I can knock out Jon Jones’

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones is nearing the end of his one year suspension, as he will be back in action come July. With the former champion incipiently being back in the sport, other fighters are beginning to put a target on his back.

“Bones” faced a one year suspension for testing positive for banned substances, being clomiphene and letrozole, after removing himself from the UFC 200 fight card. The former champion was set to defend his belt from current champion Daniel Cormier.

Now, UFC Fight Night 107 headliner Jimi “Poster Boy” Manuwa thinks he could show the former champion a thing or two inside the octagon.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Manuwa answered the question of if he would like to fight Jones.

“Of course, I’d love to fight him,” Manuwa told Sky Sports. “He’s the greatest fighter of all time. Why not? I think I could knock him out. He’s fought Teixeira, who is one-dimensional and doesn’t have the variety of striking that I’ve got.

“Jones has never fought a knockout specialist. I’d like to see him fight either me or ‘Rumble’ (Anthony Johnson), and see how he puts up with getting hit on the chin.”

Jimi Manuwa is set to face Corey Anderson in the main event of UFC Fight Night 107 on March 18 inside the London O2 Arena.
