Despite not stepping into the octagon since his last meeting with Conor McGregor at “UFC 202” last year, Nate Diaz continues to be one of the more popular and valuable fighters Ultimate Fighting Championship has signed to their roster. Diaz pushed McGregor to the limit in their second fight after submitting him in their first meeting, and the Stockton fighter has been searching for a equal enemy to throw down with since then.
It appears as if the officials who control the rankings do not believe Diaz should be ranked high due to his inactivity, and that became very clear when the latest rankings were released:
Lightweight: Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Tony Ferguson still round out the top three in the division but there was a massive shift just outside of the top five. Nate Diaz, previously ranked sixth, has fallen two spots which allowed both Michael Johnson and Michael Chiesa to hop above him in the rankings.
