Tragedy has once again struck the mixed martial arts community as Walter F. Carvalho Sr., better known to those at American Kickboxing Academy as “Pop’s” has passed away. Carvalho Sr. has had over forty-six years of training fighters in boxing and mixed martial arts.
Carvalho Sr. has helped guide the likes of Cain Velasquez, Daniel Cormier, Luke Rockhold, and Khabib Nurmagomedov to their championship shots in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It was Nurmagomedov who made the tragic news official when he shared the following post on social media:
“We will miss you coach.? R.I.P. Pops”
