Cody “No Love” Garbrandt’s path to the UFC Bantamweight Championship may have ended, but his time as champion has only begun. After dethroning Dominick Cruz at “UFC 207”, Garbrandt signed the papers to defend his championship against rival TJ Dillashaw in a fight that will see a lot of promotion as both fighters are set to coach the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter”.
Team Alpha Male Head Coach Justin Buchholz revealed on a recent edition of “Stud Radio” that Garbrandt will be defending his strap against Dillashaw on July 8, 2017 and heard a rumor that a certain Canadian will be headlining that card:
“I heard a rumor that the co-main event of ‘No Love’ vs. Dillashaw… there’s going to be a co-main event, I don’t know who is actually going to be the headliner or the co-main event, but it’s some pretty big names, ‘Eh.'” A pretty big name, ‘Eh’…”
Buchholz put heavy emphasis on the “eh” making a reference to Canadians, obviously. There are no other big names fighting out of Canada that could headline a UFC event in the summer other than Georges St-Pierre, which would lead most to believe his fight with Michael Bisping will take place on July 8th as well.
Garbrandt and Dillashaw’s match will presumably be set in July directly after Ultimate Fighter finishes airing. The timing seems right, but nothing has been officially announced. For now, there are only rumors, eh.
