The phrase, “TV rots your brain” is nothing new. But, it’s also never been proven. There have been countless studies on the subject. The concept of mind control or mind alteration through technology and media is nothing new.
The hypodermic needle theory of media study has been around since the 1930’s, largely rooted in the behavioral studies. While the hypodermic needle theory has waned in popularity through the years, the relevant concept concept has remained alive. What if we can control minds through the television screen?
A more exciting theory is that of Hendricus G. Loos, who claims to have discovered a form of manipulation through everyday monitors.
In his patent claim, Loos states “Many computer monitors and TV tubes, when displaying pulsed images, emit pulsed electromagnetic fields of sufficient amplitudes to cause such excitation. It is therefore possible to manipulate the nervous system of a subject by pulsing images displayed on a nearby computer monitor or TV set.”
