Sonnen Talks Dana White: ‘He Wasn’t Allowed To Box , The Commission Wouldn’t…

“When they got into this big dust-up, Dana’s like, ‘Yeah I will fight you. It’s gonna be boxing, it’s gonna favor me.’ That was supposed to happen but the commission ended up stepping in. Something happened and the commission ultimately said, ‘Not only are we now not going to do this fight…'”

UFC President Dana White is used to sitting cage side to watch the fights unfold from one of the best seats of the house. There was a time, however, when White was hoping to get up close and personal with all the action, lacing up a pair of boxing gloves to actually throw down inside a ring with rival Tito Ortiz. Both fighters agreed to terms and it was penciled in to take place on pay-per-view, but the hype surrounding the fight quietly dissipated before the thought of the contest was dismissed by diehard fans.

While nobody truly knew the reason why the fight did not take place, Chael Sonnen has revealed one of the biggest reasons why White never stepped into the ring to square off with a former light heavyweight champion.
