The unfortunate cancellation of the co-main event elevated Cynthia Calvillo and Amanda Cooper to the main card where the two strawweights were given the opportunity to showcase their skills. Team Alpha Male’s Calvillo walked into the octagon, for the first time, and Cooper did not shy away from meeting her in the middle of the octagon.
Calvillo did not show any signs of octagon jitters as she was loose with her strikes right off the bat. Cooper simply head-hunted in the feeling out process but Calvillo changed levels constantly. Cooper was taken off guard and taken down where Calvillo ultimately let her up. Cooper worked for a takedown, but Calvillo rolled through in a scramble and ended up in a position to lock in the Anaconda Choke. Calvillo lost the position, but worked her way to the back of Cooper and threatened the rear naked choke. It wasn’t long before she locked it in, forcing Cooper to tap.
