With the proverbial firestorm of hype surrounding the possibility of an epic cross-promotional bout between UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather finally dwindling down, it would appear that Tony Ferguson is ready to get another fire started. Now, it’s “El Cucuy” vs. “Notorious” on the menu.
In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Ferguson mentioned that McGregor his potentially his next opponent inside the octagon.
“Conor’s next. I hear he might be next. There’s nobody else in line, buddy.”
Ferguson was set to face Khabib Nurmagomedov in the UFC 209 co-main event this past weekend, but the bout was soon cancelled. Nurmagomedov suffered sharp pains in his liver, following weight management issues. The fighter missed weigh-ins when he was rushed to the hospital.
