Tony Ferguson had been training for the biggest fight of his career in the weeks leading up to “UFC 209”, but all that training was for naught. His interim lightweight championship fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov was scrapped after the Russian fighter fell ill the day before weigh-ins.
Now, Ferguson has his sights set on something grander than an interim championship. He wants the real deal. Ferguson took to social media to call out Conor McGregor, challenging him for the UFC Lightweight Championship.
Your Next Connor… @TheNotoriousMMA #DefendOrVacate • #UFC #UFC209

With McGregor out of action for the foreseeable future and considering his next fight may take place in a boxing ring, Ferguson may have to wait a bit for this fight to materialize.
