“UFC 209” suffered a major blow when it was revealed that Khabib Nurmagomedov was medically unfit to fight on Saturday’s pay-per-view. Nurmagomedov was originally scheduled to square off with Tony Ferguson to decide the fate of the interim lightweight championship, but the fighter fell ill the night before due to weight cut complications.
Doctors did not clear Nurmagomedov to fight and UFC made the fight cancellation official on Friday afternoon. UFC fighters took to social media to react to the shocking and unexpected news. Check out what they all had to say:
And win. #UFC209 —
"@MMAdamMartin: Hopefully UFC does the right thing and gives Tony his show money."

Disappointing news, to say the least. This is a fight Joe Silva has desperately wanted to make a reality for 2+ years. Just can't get there.

And now, say a prayer for our production team as we go into overdrive rebuilding and reworking the entire show. Better today than tomorrow.
