“Irish” Joe Duffy made his way into the octagon knowing this could be his last fight for the company as his contract is set to expire after this fight. Duffy hoped to walk out with a win to further improve his negotiation power, but Reza Madadi hoped to play spoiler for the future free agent in the featured preliminary bout on UFC Fight Pass.
Duffy took Madadi down to the mat early on and hammered him with some nice elbows whenever he postured up. Madadi grabbed a hold of Duffy’s neck to make him think twice about working for a transition, but he was able to slip his head out of the bad positioning to posture up again to land some nice ground-and-pound strikes.
Duffy continued his onslaught in the second round of the fight, battering Madadi while picking his shots so he wouldn’t waste any energy. Despite getting bruised, battered, and bloodied throughout the first two rounds Madadi refused to back down and secured two massive takedowns. Duffy got back to his feet with ease, but it showed Madadi was able to push through all the blood pouring down his face to still have an effective shot and strategy.
Duffy, knowing he would walk out with a win if it went to a decision, simply picked his shots and waited for his moment to strike until the fight ended.
Joe Duffy def. Reza Madadi by way of Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Big slam by @RezaMaddog, but @Duffy_MMA w/ the beautiful reversal! #UFCLondon on @UFCFightPass ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/86giDiU5Qw
