Bradley Scott and Scott Askham made their way down to the octagon at “UFC Fight Night 107” for their middleweight contest. Scott went right to business, charging forward as soon as the fight kicked off which forced Askham to adapt and grow into his gameplan as the fight went on.
Scott’s reach advantage caught Askham off guard, cracking him on the jaw with a shot that dropped him. Askham was able to pop right back up to his feet but could not shake off the cobwebs for the remainder of the round. The first round was all Scott, and there was another moment when Askham was up against the fence while Scott just teed off on him.
Askham found a comfortable striking distance in the second round, catching Scott off guard thanks to his reach before taking him down to the mat. Scott was able to get right back to his feet, but Askham got loose and fired off a level-changing three punch combination that caught him off guard. Scott’s leg kicks from the opening round started to do some damage as Askham could be seen visibly limping and smiling whenever Scott sunk his shin deep into his leg. Askham wouldn’t be defeated, however, as he kept pushing forward making for the most exciting ten seconds of the fight as the second round expired.
Scott fought a smarter fight in the third round, cracking Askham with jabs repeatedly as he found his sweet-spot to strike from. Askham’s shots became more and more transparent, easy to block, and labored as the fight went on. Still, he landed his fair share of shots to the body of Scott to keep the fight close enough.
