Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White revealed earlier on Wednesday morning that Georges St-Pierre’s return fight to the octagon would be against UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping. While a date and location have yet to be revealed for the fight, White wanted it to be known that it was official.
The middleweight division is stacked with contenders who could walk out of the octagon with the gold strapped around their waist at any given moment. Bisping had a list of names he could defend the title against in Yoel Romero and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
After Romero’s victory over former champion Chris Weidman at “UFC 205”, White mentioned, “If you look at what Romero did to Chris Weidman, he absolutely deserves the shot.”
Both “Jacare” and Romero are more than deserving of the shot, but GSP was given the title-bout despite his lengthy layoff from the octagon. Romero took to social media to share his reaction to the news:
