Fighters who are under the official UFC roster are subject to random drug testing from USADA, and Lyoto Machida was flagged for testing positive for a banned substance.
Machida has been serving his suspension and will eventually be making his return to the octagon after October 2017. In the meantime, Machida has been keep active in his training and even competed in a grappling event to keep himself in peak condition.
The last time Machida was spotted inside the octagon, he suffered defeat at the hands of top middleweight contender Yoel Romero. Machida was finished in the third round of their main event contest after Romero landed clean elbows, putting Machida to sleep.
