Gegard Mousasi is preparing himself to take on a former UFC Middleweight Champion in Chris Weidman this weekend at “UFC 210”. While the fight could get Mousasi one step closer to challenging for the championship, the middleweight does not care much to have the gold slung over his shoulder. At the end of the day, Mousasi simply wants to get paid.
Mousasi will be entering the last fight of his contract with “UFC 210” and while he has negotiated with the UFC a bit, they continue to low-ball him on offers. Mousasi admitted to MMA Fighting that he was offered a deal by the UFC but it was a lot lower than what he expected:
“A couple of months before, and last week, they came up with a contract (offer). We didn’t like it. This week, they wanted to have a contract negotiation, but I’m in fight week. I’m not going to do contract stuff.”
“Not even close. They should pay me more. I’m worth more. I don’t have extreme demands, they should pay me what’s fair.”
