Ultimate Fighting Championship’s strawweight division has truly begun to take shape since its inception years ago. Joanna Jedrzejczyk has established herself as one of the more dominant champions the company has seen in years, and the list of contenders she has left to fight is getting smaller as each defense passes.
The first champion, Carla Esparza, tore through the competition in the “Ultimate Fighter” tournament before earning her championship win against Rose Namajunas. Since then, however, Esparza has not been able to climb her way back up the ranks for another shot at the gold since losing it to Jedrzejczyk.
Esparza has only fought twice since losing the championship in March 2015, with her only victory coming at the expense of Juliana Lima by way of unanimous decision at “UFC 197”. Esparza, now ranked ninth, has a long road ahead of her if she wants to challenge for the belt again.
During her time away from the octagon, it appears as if Esparza is having a blast! A video of her at a bar recently leaked where a fan asked her to punch him in the face. She barely even hesitated, excited to throw the shot. Check it out in the clip below:

Do you think Esparza will make her way back to the title picture anytime soon?
