Chris Weidman was prepared to begin his journey back toward the top of the middleweight division at “UFC 210” but was derailed when his co-main event bout ended in controversial fashion.
Gegard Mousasi tied Weidman up and, with both hands on the canvas, Weidman thought he was protected by the knees. Mousasi threw two knees that forced the referee to step in and halt the action, ready to warn Mousasi for the illegal blows. Instant replay showed that the knees were clean, however, and the bout was ultimately stopped by the doctors. See Weidman’s reaction to the controversial stoppage below:
