Ultimate Fighting Championship shocked the world when they revealed they had signed Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino to a contract that would eventually bring her to the octagon. “Cyborg” impressed in her debut when she knocked Leslie Smith out in less than three minutes.
Her next fight would be a headline fight and while it did draw an impressive amount of viewers, her opponent was an octagon newcomer. Both fights took place at featherweight before there was a championship for the weight class, and “Cyborg” has since been campaigning for a shot at Germaine De Randamie’s championship.
Controversy surrounded “Cyborg” and her camp when it was revealed that she had been flagged by the United States Anti-Doping Agency. While she was ultimately cleared of any and all wrong-doing, there is no denying that the mishap derailed any momentum “Cyborg” generated while inside the octagon.
“Cyborg” has been calling Sean Shelby and other Ultimate Fighting Championship officials, hoping to work out a fight for her return to the octagon but the Brazilian has not heard back. She issued a warning to the bosses, asking them to release her if she didn’t have a fight lined up anytime soon:
2 weeks my manager call @seanshelby about my next fight but no news! @ufc if you don't want to fight me, release me! #letsgochamp @danawhite pic.twitter.com/E5uzl9Z36l
