UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody “No Love” Garbrandt will be stepping into the octagon with one of his greatest rivals in TJ Dillashaw in the co-main event of “UFC 213” later on this summer. Until then, both Garbrandt and Dillashaw will coach opposite of each other on the twenty-fifth season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and if the previews are any indication as to how this will turn out, let’s just say things will get physical.
The rivalry between Garbrandt and Dillashaw stems back years to Dillashaw’s decision to leave Team Alpha Male altogether. The split between the two parties went viral and it didn’t take long for “Snake” to become Dillashaw’s unofficial nickname as the mixed martial arts community joined in on Conor McGregor calling TJ a snake in the grass.
Dillashaw is now embracing the moniker and his rivalry with Team Alpha Male and Garbrandt reached an all-time-high when TAM teased releasing training footage of Dillashaw getting knocked out cold by Garbrandt. Dillashaw claimed the footage didn’t exist, but TMZ offered TAM $50,000 for the footage.
While it remains to be seen whether or not Team Alpha Male will release this footage, the creator of the gym Urijah Faber has finally cast his prediction for the massive matchup. Faber will likely be sitting cageside and told MMA Fighting what he expects to happen:
“I think it’ll probably be a knockout, just because Cody hits hard. We’ve seen it in his fights, we’ve seen it in the room. He’s got a history. T.J.’s also a heavy hitter, but not like Cody. They’re going to be in a gun fight.”
“I don’t think it’ll be that early — I don’t know when, you can’t predict that stuff. But, I know it’s going to be a very tough fight. I’ve seen T.J. and some of his stuff, and he’s already freaking out like a wild man, as he tends to do. It’s going to be a competitive fight, and Cody’s going to get it.”
