Former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva was scheduled to welcome Kelvin Gastelum back to the octagon at “UFC 212”, but a flagged test has forced Gastelum out of the bout.
The card will take place on June 3, 2017 in the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As Ultimate Fighting Championship officials go down the list of middleweights that could replace a fighter with the caliber of Gastelum, Yoel Romero knows he sits in the top spot and is likely to be next in line for a middleweight championship shot.
Knowing that Michael Bisping already has a fight lined up with Georges St-Pierre for the undisputed middleweight championship, Romero and his team have informed Ariel Helwani that they would be willing to fight Silva on short notice so long as it’s for the interim championship:
Per his team, @YoelRomeroMMA is willing to to fight Anderson Silva on 6/3 … if it's for an interim belt. No belt, no interest.
