ONE: Kings of Destiny went down on April 21 inside the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. Lightweight champion Eduard Folayang successfully defended his title from rising challenger Ev Ting in the night’s main event.
Before ONE: Kings of Destiny could go down, the ONE promotion snagged the lightweight champion for a feature interview. In the feature, Eduard Folayang delves into his childhood and what it was like growing up in the Philippines.
The champion lost many of his siblings to illness throughout his childhood. His family grew up in poverty. The fighter also noted his work ethic,
“The challenge was that when you were building a house, you needed to carry the cement, the sand, and the gravel from the road to here. What we did when we were kids was carry bags of cement and gravel, and then we had money.
“It’s those things we did when we were young that helped develop our muscles and our toughness.”
