UFC President Dana White shocked the world when he revealed that Georges St-Pierre would be making his way back into the octagon this year to challenge Michael Bisping for his UFC Middleweight Championship. St-Pierre has not been spotted inside the octagon since he relinquished his welterweight championship before going into a semi-retirement.
Now that United States Anti-Doping Agency has cleaned house and St-Pierre’s main gripes with the UFC’s drug testing have been solved, St-Pierre is making the rounds in media to hype his return.
In the star’s absence, Conor McGregor rose to fame and became one of the biggest stars the sport has ever seen. McGregor crossed over into the mainstream in no time and it wasn’t long before he slung two championship belts over his shoulders.
After his first win against Jose Aldo, McGregor dropped the now famous line, “Nobody can take that left hand shot. He’s powerful and he’s fast, but precision beats power and timing beats speed.” He went on, saying “I feel for Jose, he’s a phenomenal champion. He was a phenomenal champion. He deserved to go a little bit longer but at the end of the day, precision beats power and timing beats speed.”
In a recent interview, St-Pierre commented about the importance of timing and precision:
