Chris Weidman and Gegard Mousasi met in the middle of the octagon for their co-main event scrap at “UFC 210” and were on their way to having a competitive back-and-forth fight before controversy struck in the second round. The referee halted the action due to what he thought were illegal knees. The knees, however, were legal upon replay review and Weidman already told doctors he did not know what day of the week it was.
By the time they changed their mind saying the strikes were legal, the doctor already made her decision to wave off the fight due to the fact that Weidman had no idea what day it was. UFC commentator Joe Rogan was sitting next to Dominick Cruz and Jon Anik watching all of this action unfold, and he seemed just as confused as everybody else.
Rogan recently appeared on his friend Joey Diaz’s podcast “Church Of What’s Happening Now” and broke down exactly why the situation was so confusing for everybody involved, including referee Dan Miragliotta. Check out the video below:
