Ultimate Fighting Championship made their way to Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone’s hometown of Denver, Colorado for “UFC on FOX 23” where Jorge Masvidal stunned the live crowd into a hushed silence. Masvidal had knocked out their hometown fighter in Cerrone in stunning fashion, but the fun started long before they made their way into the octagon.
Masvidal approached this fight once it was signed as if he had a chip on his shoulder and that he had something to prove to the world. Cerrone, one of the most popular fighters in the company, was on the fast track to welterweight gold and was favored walking into this contest.
Cerrone had just come off a dominant win over Matt Brown just over a month prior to “UFC on FOX 23” and a win over Masvidal could put him among the title challengers of his class. Masvidal knew he had what it took to establish himself as a true challenger in the stacked weight class and started the mind games once he saw “Cowboy” backstage.
Masvidal was quick to trash-talk “Cowboy”, trying to get in Cerrone’s head before they met inside the octagon. After the clip you’re about to watch below, Masvidal knocked Cerrone down in the first and finished him in the second.
