No. 3 ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza was recently a prospect for free agency. But, fresh off of his previous contract, the UFC managed to lock in Souza for another fight contract.
With Souza seemingly growing increasingly impatient with waiting for a shot at the middleweight title, many speculated that the fighter would explore free agency. Now it would appear that those speculations can be put to rest, as the top contender seems quite happy with his new contract.
MMA journalist Ariel Helwani recently posted a video of the fighter celebrating his new contract on Twitter. “And here, courtesy of his team, is a very happy @JacareMMA celebrating his new 8-fight contract moments ago in Kansas City. Parabens.” Helwani said.
Next in line for the top contender, Souza is set to face Robert Whittaker at tomorrow night’s UFC on FOX 24. The event goes down on April 15 inside the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. In the main event, Demetrious Johnson will be looking to make his 10th title defense against Wilson Reis in a flyweight title fight.
