There was a time when Ronda Rousey could do no wrong. Every single time she stepped into the octagon, she dominated and defeated her opponents so quickly, she drew comparisons to Mike Tyson. Her reign as champion helped Ultimate Fighting Championship become more of a mainstream sport, and while she still has star-power among casual fans her stock as sunk among diehards.
Rousey’s last two outings in the octagon were miserable as she was knocked out in devastating fashion by both Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes. Rousey was thought to have the grappling advantage against Holm, and the grappling advantage against Nunes but she failed to showcase those skills on both nights.
Rousey spent a long time away from the octagon after her first loss to Holm, and she was spotted at multiple pro wrestling events spanning everywhere from California-based promotion Pro Wrestling Guerrilla to the globally-famous World Wrestling Entertainment. She’s made no secret of the fact that she is a professional wrestling fan, and it appears she may one day make another jump into the ring.
During a recent “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit, the fighter turned pro wrestler Shayna Baszler revealed that she wouldn’t be surprised if Rousey wanted to make the switch to professional wrestling. She stated, “Ronda has her hands in so many projects, but it wouldn’t surprise me [if she followed my footsteps in becoming a pro wrestler].”
