Ultimate Fighting Championship made their way to Kansas City, Missouri for “UFC on FOX 24” where Demetrious Johnson made history, tying Anderson Silva’s record of ten championship defenses. While Johnson’s fight was exciting, “Thug” Rose Namajunas stole the show in the co-main event.
“The Karate Hottie” Michelle Waterson was on the fast track to a shot at the championship, being heavily promoted by UFC and FOX in the weeks leading up to fight night. Diehard fans knew that Namajunas was more than just a game opponent.
“Thug” never doubted her skillset compared to Waterson’s and was dominant in her performance in the co-main event. Namajunas outclassed Waterson for a full round, taking her down to the mat and outstriking her on the feet before she worked her way into a dangerous position in the second round.
Namajunas took the back of Waterson and ultimately submitted her with a rear naked choke. The victory likely landed Namajunas near the top of the weight class, and she could be the next challenger to the UFC Strawweight Championship. Catch the replay below:
