Sam Alvey and Thales Leites were showcased in the featured preliminary fight of the night on FS2 and the middleweights did not disappoint. Leites caught Alvey off guard as soon as the fight started with a leg kick that stunned him, and it wasn’t long before the inside of Alvey’s lead leg was chewed up.
The fight remained standing for the entirety of the opening round and Alvey was cautious in all his movements; All the momentum was in the corner of Leites as his methodic, slow, plotting offense proved to be effective much to the chagrin of the Nashville audience.
Leites’ dragging offense continued in the second round and even though Alvey showed glimmers of hope for offensive output, Leites cut his offense off by tying him up and holding him against the octagon fencing.
Leites had multiple accidental fouls in the final round, blasting Alvey below the belt and poking him in the eye. Alvey trucked forward like he had all fight, and continued to fight despite his eye obviously still hurting him.
Thales Leites def. Sam Alvey by way of Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
