Joe Proctor made the switch to welterweight for the first time while fighting for the Ultimate Fighting Championship hoping to take out Bryan Barberena during their “UFC Fight Pass” bout at “UFC Fight Night 108”.

Barberena and Proctor met inside the octagon and both fighters were apprehensive to strike first. Proctor was not confident with his reach, and Barberena played the role of counter-striker making for a slow feeling out process. Proctor started to find a comfortable distance to strike from and once he started to loosen up, Barberena made him think twice by changing levels.
Barberena caught Proctor with a right hand which stunned him. Barberena’s confidence started to grow and Proctor tried to play off the pain. Still, Barberena made it rain strikes and it wasn’t long before Proctor was on his back. The referee was forced to step in between the two and wave off the action in the opening round.
