Blachowicz did not wait to get the action rolling in the opening round as he knocked Cummins for a loop in the opening minute of the fight. Blachowicz made the mistake of working for a takedown on the wrestler, and Cummins fought his way back to his feet where he ultimately wobbled Blachowicz himself.

Just a minute into the fight, Cummins was sporting a cut under his right eye and Blachowicz had blood on his back. The two continued to throw massive blows throughout periods of inactivity before Cummins took the fight to the canvas with a trip takedown.

Blachowicz tried to fight with his back on the canvas, throwing a triangle choke up but Cummins spun out of it and the two were standing at the end of round one.

Cummins secured another takedown less than two minutes into the second round. Just like he did in the first, Blachowicz remained busy off his back working for a submission. Cummins remained busy enough with his ground and pound, battering Blachowicz before posturing back down.

Blachowicz was exhausted toward the end of the second round, kneeling down while putting his hands on his thighs. He shot for a takedown on Cummins who stuffed it and proceeded to batter his body until the round ended.

It took Cummins all of two minutes to shoot for a takedown which he secured. Blachowicz shot for a takedown off of his back and it looked to be a deep one, but the sweat allowed Cummins to simply slip out. Both men made it back to their feet where, despite being exhausted, Blachowicz tried to land a flying knee. The wild strikes of Blachowicz allowed Cummins to secure another takedown, and the fight would end with Blachowicz on his back until the final horn sounded.

Patrick Cummins def. Jan Blachowicz by way of Majority Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-28)
