Ultimate Fighting Championship had an idea of the potential Paige VanZant possessed when she first signed with the company in 2014, but she has likely surpassed any expectations by how quick she could tap into her potential.
The strawweight was relegated to UFC Fight Pass for her promotional debut fight, meaning only a small handful of the audience around the world got to see her throw down. Her fight with Kailin Curran left the fans at the Frank Erwin Center hungry for more as they tore the house down with Fight of the Night honors.
VanZant and Curran left it all in the octagon that night, ultimately finishing the Hawaiian by way of technical knockout in the final round. The fight caught so much of a buzz that they felt forced to air it on the televised prelims of the fight and just like that, VanZant was a star overnight.
VanZant keeps active on her social media page, knowing how important it is for her to keep in touch with her fans in between fights. She recently took to her Instagram to reflect on her octagon debut with the following post:
“The beginning of PVZ. Win by 3rd round TKO UFC Fight night 57 11/22/14”
