Watch A Mic’d Up “Big John”, Buffer, and White Line Up To Congratulate Conor After UFC 205 Win, video below article.
UFC President Dana White sat cageside when Conor McGregor stepped into the octagon, ready to become the first fighter to hold two titles at the same time in Ultimate Fighting Championship history. Madison Square Garden hosted “UFC 205” and would go on to become one of the most historic events in company history.
As then-champion Eddie Alvarez stepped into the octagon, fans could tell the odds were stacked against him. A fighter’s mentality can impact how the fight was going to play out and the fact that it seemed like everybody was there so Conor could set history may have played a factor in Alvarez’s performance.
McGregor was hot from the get-go, dropping Alvarez in the opening round to establish himself as the dominant fighter. Conor refused to let up off the gas, and pushed a pace that Alvarez struggled to even try and keep up with.
McGregor ultimately finished the champion in the second round and held both championships high above his head in a historic moment. Before the official decision was read, everybody from “Big” John McCarthy to Dana White lined up to congratulate McGregor:
What did you think of the champ-champ’s performance at “UFC 205”?
