Chris Weidman felt he had the fight under control until a controversial knee called for a halt in action, causing everything to spiral out of control from there.
Weidman had been hit with what everybody from the referee to the broadcast team thought was an illegal knee by Gegard Mousasi in the co-main event of “UFC 210”. The action was brought to a stop before instant replay showed that Weidman’s hands were off the canvas. The fight was ruled a TKO victory for Mousasi even though the referee paused the fight in the first place.
The whole situation was messy, and Weidman refused to go down without a fight:
