After losing to light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier for the second time, KO artist Anthony “Rumble” Johnson announced his retirement.
Following the unexpected announcement, UFC President Dana White gave his opinion of Johnson’s choice to leave the sport at what is arguably the prime of his MMA career.
In the wake of last night’s UFC 210, White admitted that he has no interest in talking “Rumble” out of his decision.
In an interview with UFC on FOX, White said:
“I agree with Cormier. I don’t think that he should retire. I think he’s got a lot left in him. He’s a young guy and people love to see him fight. But on the flip side, if the ‘R’ word even pops into your head, you should absolutely, positively retire. Because this isn’t the business to stay in. Never in the history of me being involved in this company, and for the rest of my life, I will never try to talk somebody out of retirement.”
