The UFC is working on adding a second title fight to this year’s International Fight Week.
UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes is expected to make her next title defense against top contender Valentina Shevchenko. UFC officials are currently trying to book the fight for UFC 213 on July 8 in Las Vegas.
Nunes is coming off her first successful title defense. In December, she took only 48 seconds to defeat former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey by TKO.
Overall, Nunes is on a five-fight win streak in the UFC. She won the title last July by submitting then-champion Miesha Tate. Her win streak also includes wins over Shevchenko, Sara McMann, and Shayna Baszler.
Shevchenko is on a two-fight win streak. She is coming off a submission win over Julianna Pena in January. Shevchenko also has a decision win over former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm.
UFC 213 will feature the first title defense for UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt as he fights former champion TJ Dillashaw. The card will also feature Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum, Donald Cerrone vs. Robbie Lawler, and Anthony Pettis vs. Jim Miller.
