Despite the UFC’s attempts to keep Anderson Silva on the UFC 212 fight card, they’ve been forced to remove him officially, as of today.
Anderson Silva was originally slated to face rising middleweight sensation Kelvin Gastelum, however a post-fight drug test flagged Gastelum for marijuana, resulting in a suspension.
Then, according to UFC president Dana White, the UFC offered Anderson Silva a few different opponents, but were unable to get the legend to agree to fight.
Anderson shocked the world recently by stating he was ready to retire if the UFC didn’t give into his demands of a title shot.
Anderson was protesting the GSP vs. Bisping booking, like most of the division, which is now officially off.
ESPN broke the news of Anderson’s official removal.
UFC has officially stated Anderson Silva won't fight on June 3 in Rio. Silva said as much this week, but some were still holding out hope.
