Cerrone Wants To Move Back To Lightweight, Dana White Won’t Let Him

UFC star Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone wants to go back to the lightweight division, but the UFC won’t let him.

For the past year, Cerrone has been in the welterweight division and has managed to become one of the top contenders at 170 pounds. However, Cerrone also found much success at 155 pounds, where he once challenged for the UFC title.

Cerrone talked about going back to lightweight on the latest episode of UFC Tonight.

“I tried but Dana (White) said ‘hell to the no’,” Cerrone said about going back to 155 pounds. “When I was at 155 and tried to go to 170 they told me ‘Oh those guys are too big for me’ but now they’re like, ‘you’re great at 170’. If the fight is right, and the money is right, I’d be glad to go down there.”

Cerrone also talked about not liking having to wait six months in between fights. Cerrone’s entire interview can be seen below.

Cerrone is scheduled to fight former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler on July 8 at UFC 213 in Las Vegas.
