Justin Buchholz, the head coach of Team Alpha Male, says this summer will be the summer of Team Alpha Male (TAM).
As of right now, almost every UFC event scheduled for this summer features one of TAM’s top fighters.
Starting on June 25, at a UFC Fight Night event in Oklahoma City, Clay Guida will represent TAM when he fights Erik Koch.
Guida will be returning to the lightweight division. As a lightweight, Guida was one of the top fighters in the division. At 155 pounds, Guida picked up notable wins over Nate Diaz and former UFC champions Rafael dos Anjos and Anthony Pettis.
The next UFC event, The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption Finale, on July 7 will feature Teruto Ishihara as he fights former title challenger Gray Maynard. Ishihara has quickly become when one the most exciting fighters coming out of TAM.
The next night, TAM’s crown jewel, UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt was scheduled to defend his title against former champion, and former TAM member, TJ Dillashaw. However, Garbrandt was forced to withdraw due to a back injury.
The next UFC event will take place in Scotland as TAM’s fastest rising star Cynthia Calvillo fights Joanne Calderwood in the co-main event.
On July 22, at a UFC on FOX event, TAM’s toughest fighter Darren Elkins will fight Dennis Bermudez in Uniondale, New York.
At UFC 214 on July 29 in Anaheim, California, Andre “Touchy” Fili will represent TAM when he fights “The Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi.
Lastly, Hector Sandoval will take TAM to Mexico on Aug. 5 when he fights flyweight contender Dustin Ortiz at a UFC Fight Night event.
Buchholz said there is a chance of more TAM fighters fighting in the UFC this summer. As of now, many TAM fighters have the opportunity to become top contenders in their divisions.
