The Oklahoma State Athletic Commission will not punish UFC lightweights Kevin Lee and Michael Chiesa for their actions earlier this month.
At the UFC Summer Kickoff press conference, Chiesa and Lee brawled on stage after Lee had made comments talking about Chiesa’s mother. Chiesa had warned Lee not to talk about his mother, but when Lee didn’t stop, Chiesa ran across the stage and the two fighters began throwing punches.
Chiesa and Lee are scheduled to headline a UFC Fight Night event on June 25 in Oklahoma City.
According to Joe Miller, OSAC executive director, said neither fighter had a license to compete in the state at the time of the press conference. So the state does not have the jurisdiction to punish either fighter for their actions.
“However if they are disciplined and placed on suspension by another Commission, we will honor that suspension,” Miller told MMA Fighting.
