Conor McGregor Reacts To The Nasty Knee That Ended Alvarez vs. Poirier

Another great mixed martial arts competition went down last night. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosted UFC 211 in Dallas, Texas inside the American Airlines Center. While the event had some good fights, the night was not without its controversy.

Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez was set to face Dustin Poirier. The former champion has not competed in the octagon since his title ending loss to Conor “Notorious” McGregor in November.

The two mixed martial artists gave a wonderful performance, before the fight was brought to an abrupt end. In the second round, Alvarez had his opponent against the cage. With Poirier bent towards the octagon, Alvarez began landed brutal knees to the head of his opponent.

The strikes being given by Alvarez were largely considered illegal strikes by many of those watching the bout. However, the fight was called a no contest, rather than a victory for Dustin Poirier. The official decision has since drawn some controversy.

Now, UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor has decided to weigh in on the situation. Over Twitter, McGregor stated “Raise both their and hands and (expletive) it. Good fight.”
