Former UFC welterweight champion Anderson Silva recently expressed great frustration with the UFC. The former champion revealed that if he does now receive an interim middleweight title fight, he will retire.
Now, UFC President Dana White has provided a response. It would appear that the president is calling Anderson Silva’s bluff. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Dana White explained that there are no plans to set up an interim title fight for the middleweight division.
As transcribed by FOX Sports, Dana White explained “Every time, for the last however many years, dealing with Anderson it’s always interesting. You know obviously he wants an interim title, obviously we’re not going to do an interim title.
“He’s definitely coming out publicly…and you know my philosophy on that, if you ever say the ‘R’ word, you should probably do it anyway. If you’re considering retirement, you should probably do it.”
