UFC President Dana White recently explained why former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre will no longer receive a title shot against UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping.
On Wednesday, White announced St-Pierre would no longer receive a title shot because St-Pierre announced he wouldn’t be ready to fight until November. Instead, White said Yoel Romero will get the next shot at the middleweight title.
White talked about his decision on Thursday while talking to Jim Rome.
“Life waits for nobody, man. Life waits for nobody,” White said. “That’s just too long. It’s not fair that the rest of the division should have to wait that long for Georges St-Pierre. Georges St-Pierre has been saying he’s going to fight for the last three years, and now it’s November. I can’t wait for GSP.”
St-Pierre has not fought in the UFC since 2013. He temporarily left the promotion and relinquished his welterweight title after defending it for the ninth consecutive time.
