Drastic New Weigh-In Regulations Set To Impact Upcoming UFC Cards

Big changes have been made to the sport of mixed martial arts in the state of California.

This week, the state approved a new plan that will help limit the amount of weight a fighter can cut before competing. Fighter’s weight will be factored in when they are applying for a license. The new rules will also put stricter fines on fighters who miss weight. Fighters are also now only allowed to gain 10 percent of their body weight in between the weigh-ins and the fight.

The first UFC event to be impacted by these new rules will be UFC 214 on July 29 in Anaheim. The event will be headlined by UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier defending his title against former champion Jon Jones.

The new rules in the state of California will go into effect for all MMA promotions starting on June 15.
