Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones may be one of the greatest mixed martial arts fighters of all time, but he also has quite the reputation for bending the rules in his fights.
Throughout his remarkable reign as UFC champion, which saw him defend his title on eight separate occasions, Jones also would use his reach advantage to not only keep his opponents at bay but also potentially poke them in the eye if they came too close to the defending champion.
In the video above, you can see Jones’ mock allegations of himself being a dirty fighter, as well as highlights of him using the questionable technique against opponents such as Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Glover Teixeira, and Alexander Gustafsson.
In 2017, some states have adopted new rules to the unified rules of mixed martial arts to prevent fighters from reaching out towards their opponents with their fingers spread apart. This rule has been made in an attempt to prevent eye pokes. Once Jones makes his long-awaited return to the UFC, he will need to be cautious about using his infamous technique.
