Just hours after receiving rude tweets from UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones’ barber made a t-shirt commemorating Cormier’s tweet.
Jones’ barber, Joe Becker, wore a t-shirt on Thursday saying, “I’m the fat inbred, slap me?! #TeamJones.”
Cormier made those remarks after Becker posted a video with Jones saying negative things about the UFC champion.
“Oh cupcake? Yeah cupcake sent me some rude tweets late last evening. He was upset because he called out Jon Jones calling him an (expletive). And I responded saying he talks a lot of crap now but when fight time comes around we all know he is a wrestler. All he wants to do is hug and fall and put his weight on guys,” Becker told 12 News, a local news affiliate in New York.
“I mean, it’s Twitter. It’s not real life. Some people take it too serious like ‘Cupcake.’ I have struggled with my weight all my life and you know a guy like that doing a bully move saying I’m looking inbred… I’m going to own it. I’m going to own it and I am going to tweet back. I am a man. No one is going to tell me they are going to slap me as any man shouldn’t. It’s all in fun and banter. Do I expect the guy to come in here and slap me? Probably not. It wouldn’t be good for his bank account.”
After Becker’s story was posted, Cormier responded to Becker.
“O poor joe! You didn’t like what I said? Well Boo hoo. You were all good when u and ur drunk friend were cussing me. Enjoy ur moment,” Cormier tweeted.
Cormier is expected to defend his title against Jones at UFC 214 on July 29 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
