After suffering an injury, former UFC title challenger Joseph Benavidez was forced to withdraw from his upcoming fight.
On Wednesday, Benavidez sent out a tweet announcing he will no longer be fighting on June 10.
“Sad to share that I suffered an injury, will not be fighting June 10th,” Benavidez tweeted. “I’ll focus on what I can do and be back. Thank you for the support.”
Benavidez was scheduled to fight Ben Nguyen at a UFC Fight Night event in New Zealand. The event is headlined by a heavyweight fight between Derrick Lewis and Mark Hunt.
Benavidez is currently on a six-fight win streak and has defeated some of the best fighters in the flyweight division. His win streak currently includes wins over Tim Elliott, Dustin Ortiz, John Moraga, Ali Bagautinov, Zach Makovsky, and Henry Cejudo.
