Former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold is happy with the UFC over their decision to change the next middleweight title fight.
On Wednesday, UFC President Dana White announced that former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will no longer receive the next shot at UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping. Instead, top contender Yoel Romero will get the next shot at the middleweight title.
“Good job UFC. Let’s get back to work,” Rockhold tweeted on Thursday showing his support for the UFC’s decision.
Many middleweight contenders, including Rockhold, were upset with the UFC due to Bisping not defending his title against top contenders. His first title defense was against Dan Henderson, who was not ranked in the top 10, and his second was going to be St-Pierre, who has never fought as a middleweight and has not fought since 2013.
The UFC changed their mind about a Bisping vs. St-Pierre fight after St-Pierre announced he would not be ready to return to the UFC until November.
Well done @ufc . Let's get back to work.
