Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight champion and UFC Hall-of-Fame inductee Matt Hughes is now retired from the sport of mixed martial arts. The former champion has not competed in the UFC since 2011.
The mixed martial artist’s most recent bout was against Josh Koscheck at UFC 135. The former champion lost in the end of the first round by way of knockout. The bout put Matt Hughes on a two fight losing streak.
Now, however, it would appear that the former champion may be interested in getting back into the action. The UFC Hall-of-Fame inductee recently appeared on Airel Helwani’s The MMA Hour. On the recent edition, the former champion explained a few things.
Matt Hughes explained that he would love to return to the octagon. He did not want to retire, initially. The former champion explained that his wife, as well as UFC President Dana White, convinced him to retire.
