Bellator just grabbed one of their most notable free-agents to date in the form of Roy “Big Country” Nelson.
Nelson’s UFC contract expired after his most recent decision loss to Alexander Volkov. The always outspoken heavyweight entered the free agent market and apparently got a better deal under the Viacom banner.
Roy Nelson won Ultimate Fighter season 10. He’s been with the UFC since 2009. He leaves the promotion with a 9-9 record over the course of his career with the world’s largest MMA promotion, at 40 years old.
He joins the likes of Phil Davis, Matt Mitrione, Benson Henderson, and Rory MacDonald, who have all left the UFC as free agents and landed Bellator contracts.
