Bryan Barberena, the man who first defeated “Super” Sage Northcutt in the UFC, has signed a new four-fight fight deal.
On Thursday, Barberena made the announcement of his new contract on Twitter. He also said he signed a contract for his next fight, but did not reveal who is opponent is, or when he is fighting.
During his UFC tenure, Barberena has gained a reputation for being a prospect killer.
Before defeating Northcutt, Barberena defeated highly-touted newcomer Joe Ellenberger, who is the brother of longtime welterweight contender Jake Ellenberger.
In 2016, Barberena submitted Northcutt with an arm triangle. This was the first loss of Northcutt’s MMA career.
After the Northcutt fight, Barberena picked up a major win by defeating welterweight prospect Warlley Alves.
During his time in the UFC, Barberena has jumped back and forth between the lightweight and welterweight divisions. He returned to the lightweight division in his last fight and picked up a decision win over Joe Proctor.
